Located near the airport hangers along Canora Road is the Brethour Family Cemetery. It is the burial site started in 1877 for Samuel Brethour’s family.  The Brethour family acquired the lands from the Hudson Bay Company and the original 500 acres were divided amongst his children who helped to establish the township of Sidney. In 1891, fifty acres of land owned by the Brethour family was subdivided into lots and registered as the Township of Sidney.
