Replaced a few missing tiles

This was an extremely difficult repair to the Stromgren grave at T44W44. In cleaning the top surface, we found that many of the tiles were loose. Keeping track of them and trying not to lose any was a challenge. As you can probably imagine, you can’t go down to the local tile store and buy replacements. Out of the approximately 8000 tiles, there were lots missing! After searching all over Victoria, we found a 2inch X 2inch tile in both black and white that closely matched the old tile in color and thickness. We were lucky! Now to the cutting…… Each of the 2×2 tiles were cut on a wet tile saw and produced 4 3/4 X 3/4 replacement tiles. I think we cut about 200. After setting the new and loose tiles in place, the whole top was cleaned and polished with an electric sander with scrubbing pads. Indeed…a challenging but satisfying project!
